Holbein dress update!
The bodice and skirt are both finished and ready to be attached! Just thought I’d post some progress pics.
You can see that it’s turned out a little different from my original design: The velvet trim is lighter than the silk, for one. I put some panels of patterned fabric into the forearms… I forewent the darker trim around the shoulders as well.
If you’re wondering what those two garter thingies at the waist are, they’re skirt hikes to pull up the front of the skirt like in the pictures.
All in all, the gown is almost done, just needs the skirt and the bodice attaching, and the front closure sewn in. The underskirt is only maybe a 1/4 done though, so still plenty to be going on with.

… I find myself already planning a cloak to wear with it. I’ve found a design that I really like, but it pre-dates the Holbein sketch by about 40 years. I suppose it doesn’t matter too much, since I’ve turned the whole thing into a gaudy turquoise monstrosity anyway. We’ll see :)

I want to spend my day off sewing, but I breathed in so much velvet dust yesterday that I’ve given myself lung mucus issues. Oops.

I just gave it a go wearing an improv face mask, but I just can’t face that velvet again for a while. *cough cough splutter*
